SO many records on the way!
First off we are THRILLED to welcome Worriers to the EJRC family! Their 4th LP, Warm Blanket, is an incredibly special record and a unique step forward for this band - subtle, powerful, smart and filled with hooks that will crush you. Preorders are up now (super limited pinwheel splatter going quick!) and the whole thing lands on April 7.
Beauty Pill's spellbinding collection of music from 2002-2004 is available right now and WILL sell out. Blue Period collects all the band's Dischord releases along with a full side of outtakes and jaw dropping design courtesy of band member Ryan Nelson. Maybe the nicest looking record we've ever put out. Also includes some of the best songs you've ever heard.
King Khan is back with his second album of avant/outsider/free/spiritual jazz. The sequel to his acclaimed The Infinite Ones, The Nature of Things goes deeper into the unknown and features the Shrines' Torben Wesche on tenor and baritone saxophone and Calexico's John Convertino on drums. Beautiful black/bone splatter vinyl available for preorder now.
Pigeon Pit's beloved Feather River Canyon Blues is back in stock with a second pressing available now. North and Midwest dates are being announced for the coming months and some more fun newsis just around the corner.
Reissues of The Van Pelt's two classic LPs are available now! The band is currently playing shows in the US and will be hitting Europe this spring. If you don't own these records yet this is your chance to fix that terrible mistake.
Poster Paints will play their first ever US shows this March! Wild Yaks and +\- {Plus/Minus} are both in the studio! You're doing great and we love you.
Brand new LPs available right now from Vitreous Humor and Poster Paints!
Vitreous Humor's self titled EP is presented for the first time as a remastered (by Bob Weston) 12" with an unreleased track and a full live set from the legendary Fireside Bowl. We've reissued it as a beautiful gatefold LP with a few bonus inserts - a glorious completion of our VH archival adventure.
Poster Paints' debut is a dreamy masterpiece from members of Frightened Rabbit and Teen Canteen. Glaswegian space pop at it's finest that's already garnering heavy acclaim. Act fast and grab a copy from the first pressing on hot pink vinyl.
We're also taking preorders for the next pressing of Pigeon Pit's remarkable Feather River Canyon Blues LP. First pressing of this one went quick - and the love pouring in from their incredible Tiny Desk Concert continues to blow us away while bringing more fans to the table daily. Should have new copies in your hands before the end of the year!
Still some copies left of Nonconnah's defining thesis - the 2xCassette/Book "Don't Go Down To Lonesome Holler". A true sonic statement - a monolith even - 3 hours of music, noise, found sound and song. Hand numbered and life altering.
We're going to announce a bunch more records before the end of this year somehow.
Welcome Poster Paints to EJRC! Been working on this one for the last year and we are overjoyed to (finally!) release their debut EP "Blood Orange"! --- Poster Paints are Glasgow's Simon Liddell (Frightened Rabbit, Olympic Swimmers) and Carla J. Easton creating a dreamy/magical/shimmering world of hooks and heart. --- Full-length LP coming (sooner than) later this year.
Still Fresh:
Linqua Franqa - Elected Athens-Clarke County Commissioner / Rapper / Parent / NPR Darling / Phd and so much more - This record holds a super special meaning for us and it's been resonating with folks everywhere. Get a taste with some of the incredible videos they've dropped so far and then dig into the whole LP which also features appearances by Jeff Rosenstock, Of Montreal, Kishi Bashi, Dope KNife and Angela Davis. We've still got copies on clear vinyl left but probably not for long!
Savak - Someone recently asked me how these guys do it - 5 records in 7 years, each one better than the last, constant shows, an ever-shifting line-up that's endlessly reliable. I have no idea but its a joy to be part of. Their latest LP features contributions from members of these bands that I also like: New Radiant Storm King, Tortoise, The Four Carnation, Garden Variety, Radio 4, and Monsterland. Also - as of this writing we have exactly 14 copies left of the beautiful looking clear / black splatter vinyl. You've been warned.
Mary Simich - Described by one of our most trusted critics as "Patsy Cline on a carousel" - Discovered in a random Berlin bar by our insatiable guru King Khan - Dropping a record that exists completely free of time and space. Mary Simich's debut LP introduces a voice of depth and beauty wrestling with the heart and mind over gently strummed guitars and carnival keys. It's a magical ride.
The Most Distant Object - New Order meets Chicago Post Rock and everyone wins. EVERY SONG ON THIS RECORD HAS A VIDEO! TMDO features members of C-Clamp and Dianogah (and features the entirety of Dianogah in its live line-up!) as well as otherworldly vocal contributions from Nora O'Connor (fun fact - this is our second release to feature Nora, who previously lent her killer vocal to Chris Mills' legendary 2005 Wall To Wall Sessions!) Did I mention this release is limited to 100 cassettes and there aren't a ton left?
Blunt Bangs - The best power pop record of the last year. Full stop. Members of Black Kids and former members of Woods. Hits. Lots of hits. And in the past 6 months these Athens, GA folks have toured relentlessly turning into a live force to be reckoned with. Listen up and go see them. Guaranteed Delight.
Running Low - Nearly out of colored vinyl for the new Savak, Not a ton of copies left of Vitreous Humor - Posthumous, The Rentals - Resilience, most of the Trummors catalog and Bomb The Music Industry - Vacation LPs.
On Tour - Linqua Franqa West Coast in JUNE! (announcing more details this week)! Built To Spill, Savak and the first Martha's Vineyard Ferries shows since the LP came out!
Thank you as always. We hope you are doing well.
So very pleased to announce 3 new additions to the EJRC roster to start off the year:
Linqua Franqa - Rapper, Activist, Elected Official, Mother and all around inspiration has announced their jaw dropping sophomore LP and first for EJRC - BELLRINGER feat. Jeff Rosenstock, Of Montreal, Kishi Bashi, Angela Davis, Dope KNife, Wesdaruler and more. This record is beyond what we could have hoped for and is nothing short of a gift. We're so so happy to be getting to share it with you.
Mary Simich - A singular voice of timeless cosmic country crooning. "Patsy Cline on a carousel" - A voice brought to us by King Khan who discovered and produced the LP, this is music for everyone who has ever had a fragile dream or tender thought. Simple beauty with no frills end endless heart.
The Most Distant Object - Somewhere between New Order and the still pulsing heart of Chicago post-rock comes this new duo featuring members of Dianogah and C-Clamp. A new single and video every week for 11 weeks until the record lands in April. Visual and sonic brilliance and precision.
more music and tours coming soon from Nonconnah, Savak, Blunt Bangs and so many more along with a few other magical announcements we just can't wait to share.
The debut LP from Blunt Bangs (feat former members of Black Kids, Woods and more) is out right now and it's a slab of pure joy. Clear vinyl copies still available in the shop and the band is on the road all around the US.
Wild Yaks - Live at Rippers is the first live record we’ve ever put out and there’s no better band to hold the honor. LPs are beautifully hand screened and numbered by our pals at Open Ocean and the album itself is a near perfect representation of the sweaty and chaotic bliss the Wild Yaks have become known for. Revisit a celebrated summer.
Vitreous Humor’s Posthumous is available here on vinyl for the first time ever, 24 years after it initially came together. It’s been nothing short of an honor to work with this band and get this music out to old fans and a brand new audience. We’ve sold through a few pressings of this one already but its back in stock so get it while you can!
More new LPs still available from The Martha's Vineyard Ferries, Nonconnah, Built To Spill (and their alter ego Boise Cover Band) and King Khan as well as some massive new ones and old favorites on the way in 2022.
Hi, thanks for coming. Welcome / Nice to see you again. We've got nice things for you.
Boise Cover Band - the long lost project from Built To Spill's Doug Martsch is available now (1st pressing already sold out but the 2nd will be available in time for release date as well!)
Martha's Vineyard Ferries - The latest crusher from the incredible trio of Bob Weston (Shellac), Chris Brokaw (Codeine, Come) and Elisha Weisner (Kahoots) is up for orders now too - a real rock band record in 2021 - we needed this one.
Nonconnah - The otherworldly "Songs For And About Ghosts" is their second EJRC full-length and as darkly hypnotizing and immersive as any record we've ever put our hands on. Order that one now too!
Still lots of goodness available including last year's hits from King Khan, Trummors, Built To Spill, Flower, We Versus The Shark and Versus too, so get listening.
We'd do anything to hear these songs in person in 2021. Please do your part and we'll see you soon.
We’re still here. Glad to see you are too.
The latest LP from Trummors is out right now - a languid walk through western ghost towns that is easily their best LP yet - we’ve still got a few copies left of their previous three albums as well but they’re going fast!
The 2nd pressing of Built To Spill Plays The Songs of Daniel Johnston is in stock NOW - The response to this record has been incredible (and well deserved!) - if you haven’t gotten your hands on it yet now is the time!
New LPs from Flower, We Versus The Shark, Million Lands and Savak are all in the world right now as well, and we have a few more phenomenal titles to announce before the end of 2020 - might as well try to make the most of this year!
Sincere thanks for your support through the last year - it’s been endlessly strange and challenging and all of you listening has helped us more than you could imagine.
It is with unfettered joy that we're finally able to announce: Built To Spill Plays The Songs Of Daniel Johnston - coming May 1st.
The album is up for preorder right now and we have a special very limited variant available only from EJRC. Both Built to Spill and the songs of Daniel Johnston have meant so much to us for so long and it's an honor to bring you this record.
AND!
We're also SO proud to present to you the latest Savak album - Rotting Teeth In The Horse's Mouth - coming April 10th.
This is the 4th album by these guys in the last 5 years (!), it comes right on the heels of last year's Mirror Maker EP (which we still have a FEW copies left of) and it's easily their best yet.
There's an insane amount of records coming up in 2020 - stay along for the ride.
